Teaser Trailer: Denzel Washington Stars in THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN remake with Antoine Fuqua Directin

Denzel Washington is set to show us just how how badass he really is in the remake of The Magnificent Seven directed by Antoine Fuqua who brings his modern vision to a classic story presented by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures’ and Columbia Pictures’ (the original film was made in 1960 and starred Steve McQueen and Yul Brynner). Washington stars as bounty hunter Sam Chisholm who his hired by a widow (Haley Bennett) to get revenge on on the villainous

industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard) who wrecks all kinds of havoc on the small town of Rose Creek.

Interestingly, the 2016 version of The Magnificent Seven is a remake of a remake. The 1960 version starred Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Robert Vaughn, Brad Dexter and Horst Buchholz as a group of American gunmen hired to protect a small Mexican village from a group of savage bandits led by Calvera (Eli Wallach) and was based on Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 classic “Seven Samurai.” A remake of the film was reported to be in the planning stages in 2012, with Tom Cruise starring but there was no director or writer attached to the project.

James Horner was pegged to write the film's score, but died on June 22, 2015. In July 2015, nearly a month after Horner's death, Fuqua learned that the score already had been written, and Horner had planned for it to be a surprise. As such, the score will be the third and final Horner score to be released posthumously. I predict that this score will receive special attention at the Oscars. I'm excited about this film because Fuqua and Washington have a knack for heightening the action and tension in a movie as was evidenced when they teamed up for Training Day which resulted in an Oscar win for Washington as Best Actor in a Leading Role and a nomination for Ethan Hawke as Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

The Magnificent Seven is scheduled for release in theatres on September 23 and boasts a star-studded cast in Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D'Onofrio, Byung-Hun Lee, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Martin Sensmeier.
