100 Female Directors of Color...and Counting
According to a recent report from the Media, Diversity & Social Change Initiative (MDSC) at USC Annenberg, female directors of color have been nearly invisible in the directors' chair for the 1,000 top-grossing films released between 2007 and 2016. Only seven directing opportunities went to women of color.
At BlackCinemadb.com, we wanted to showcase the women of color who are creating compelling documentaries, film, and television despite these challenges. Join us in this celebration as we continue to add new female directors to our database every month, including the pioneers who came before.
