Labor of Love: Nate Parker discusses BIRTH OF A NATION at the Los Angeles Film Festival

Multi-talented Nate Parker, the star, writer and director of The Birth of a Nation, winner of the 2016 Sundance Film Festival's audience and jury awards, will reveal what it took to bring to the screen the story of Nat Turner, an African-American preacher who led one of the most important slave rebellions in U.S. history. Captivated by Turner's story since he was a college student, Parker embarked on a seven-year journey to make this remarkable film. In clips and conversation format, he will share the challenges and tribulations involved in bringing his passion project to life. Parker will be joined by members of the cast, including Aja Naomi King (How to Get Away with Murder) and Gabrielle Union (Being Mary Jane).

Parker’s Birth of a Nation is sure to be a major contender during awards season when it’s released in October. You won’t want to miss this nuts-and-bolts discussion of one of the year’s most talked-about films.

When: Thursday, June 2 @ 6:30 pm at ArcLight Culver City 1.
